Shaping the Basics: Ceramics with Blair Masters

Shaping the Basics: Ceramics with Blair Masters is a 6-week ceramics course designed for adults and teens (16+) of all skill levels. Facilitated by Blair Masters, the workshop covers the fundamentals of working with clay, including wheel throwing, centering, pulling walls, trimming, surface design, and glazing. Participants will:

• Learn to use clay and essential tools
• Practice wheel throwing to create cylinders and bowls
• Trim and finalize pieces for bisque firing
• Glaze and prepare works for final firing

The course is structured as follows:

• Week 1: Introduction to clay, centering, and basic forms
• Week 2: Trimming and additional wheel practice
• Week 3: Final touches before bisque firing
• Week 4: Bisque firing (no class)
• Week 5: Glazing
• Week 6: Final firing (no class)

All materials are provided, and students will take home up to three finished pieces. The class size is limited to 8 for individualized attention. The course is held at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art’s Classroom. Fees are $375 for members and $425 for non-members, with bursaries available for those under 18 and financial assistance for artists.
